Willingness, Obedience, and Fulfillment

Isaiah 1:19–If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.

If you are willing–God has given us a free will.  He doesn’t use His authority and power to force us to yield to His will. He allows us to wish and desire to yield to Him, as an exercise of our own self-direction and control.  We put Him in control of our life.  We must have a willingness to be taught and led by God.

If you are obedient–Willing is one thing.  Being obedient is another.  Many times we have good intentions but never follow through.  Being obedient is willingness in action.  It is following through.  When we obey God we are allowing ourselves to be guided by Him.  We allow the Lord to lead us.  There used to be a TV program on by the name of “Father Knows Best”.  Indeed our heavenly Father knows best.

You shall eat the good of the land–If we are willing and obedient, God can lead us in a way that we can enjoy what life in this world has to offer.  We shall be blessed.  Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).  Knowing Jesus as our Savior and Lord lifts us to a higher plane of living.  It allows us to live on a spiritual level, drawing strength from the Lord.  It allows us to have life more abundantly.
