Running The Race

Hebrews 12:2–Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Life is like a race with hurdles.  We face obstacles, difficulties, problems, and barriers.  The following tells us how to overcome these things and be victorious.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith–Jesus is the origin and the maker of our faith.  He brings our faith into existence.  He is the giver of our faith.  He also is the finisher of our faith.  He increases our faith as it is needed and He brings it to completion.  We must look to Jesus for our help.  He is our ever-present help in our time of need.

Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross–He despised the shame but He endured.  We can endure, hold up, continue and be victorious because He is with us.  The joy was set and prepared before Him.  It was His resurrection, ascension, glorification, and sitting down at the right hand of the throne of God.  There is a joy that is set before us and we must never forget that.  The joy set before us is a new body, our ascension into heaven, a new home, reunion with friends and loved ones, the presence of God to name a few.  “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). There is more joy set before us than we can imagine so let us run the race with patience.
