God–The Health Of Our Countenance

Psalms 43:5–Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Why are you cast down?–There are times when we might find ourselves sad, depressed, or discouraged.  We need to search for the reason for this.

Why are you disquieted within me?–There are other times when we realize that we are anxious, restless, or disturbed.

Hope in God–God gives us the remedy for being cast down or disquieted.  He wants us to hope in Him.  He is to become our hope.  We look to him for what we want or need.  We trust in Him to take care of what is causing us to be sad, depressed or discouraged.  We depend on Him to take care of what is causing us to be anxious, restless, or disturbed.

I shall yet praise Him–This is an expression of faith.  It says that God will work on our behalf and because of what He does we shall have cause to praise Him.  Praise comes after hope is engaged.

God is the health of my countenance, and my God:

1. God is first the healer of our countenance. He is the remedy. He will free us from our grief and troubles.  He will take away the frown and give us a smile.  He will bring us peace and joy.  We will rejoice in the Lord and be glad.

2. Secondly God is the health of our countenance. In Him we not only have mental and emotional healing, we will also remain in mental and emotional well-being.
