Ambassadors For Christ

2 Corinthians 5:20–Now then we are ambassadors for Christ.

An ambassador is the highest ranking representative of one country to another.  As Christians we are Christ’s highest ranking representatives to this world.  An ambassador is also an official messenger on a special mission.  God has commissioned us as His messengers.  Jesus said, “As my Father has sent me, even so send I you” (John 20:21).

The ministry of reconciliation–“God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself” (2 Corinthians 5:19).  Jesus was sent by the Father to make peace and bring mankind to God.  God “has given to us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18).

The word of reconciliation–He has also “committed unto us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19).  As God’s ambassadors we are to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this world.   Now God is in us (the Holy Spirit) reconciling the world unto Himself.  We have a responsibility to tell the world of God’s ministry of reconciliation in Christ. We are to beseech people to be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:20).  We are to tell them to come to God through Jesus Christ.  Let us carry out our mission that one day we might hear God say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21).

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world”

Matthew 28:19-20
