Run The Race With Patience

Hebrews 12:1–Let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

The race is God’s will that He has set before us.

1. We must continually lay aside every weight and sin. In order to run this race we must lay aside every weight.  Anything that would weigh heavy upon us and hinder us in fulfilling God’s will, must be laid aside.  These burdens include things that worry us and cause us anxiety.  We must also lay aside the sin which does so easily beset us.  Sins attack us from all sides and hem us in.  They enter our lives easily if we are not ever watchful.  Every weight and sin is an obstacle that stands in the way of our doing God’s will.

2. We must continually have patience. It requires patience because of the obstacles that get in our way.

3. We must continually look to Jesus. He is the author and finisher of our faith. We need this faith to successfully run the race that is set before us and carry out God’s will for our life.  We are to look to Jesus as our example and for encouragement.  He endured what He had to face and go through for the joy that was set before Him (Hebrews 12:2).  Not only is the race set before us, but the joy is also set before us at the end of the race.  There is great joy in fulfilling God’s will for our life and in the rewards for doing so.
