Two Levels Of Life

2 Corinthians 4:18–The things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

***********************************************************************

There is a lower, physical level of life (which is seen) and there is a higher, spiritual level of life (which is not seen).

The lower, physical level of life–Mankind exists on the physical level, His life is temporal.  “What is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away” (James 4:14).  The non-Christian lives in the physical realm and walks in the flesh.   The lower, physical level of life is more real to most people because it has been all they have known and it has dominated their life from physical birth.  He/she is following the course of this physical world. His/her mind has been programmed by the world and other people through the 5 senses.

The higher, spiritual level of life–God exists on the higher, spiritual level which is not seen.  When a person is born of the Spirit he/she begins a spiritual, eternal life and has the ability to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.  The new Christian’s life must be transformed by the renewing of their mind.  Their mind must be reprogrammed by the intake of God’s word and the teaching of the Holy Spirit.  The Christian now has two natures; the physical and the spiritual.  The Christian can walk (live) according to the flesh or he can walk (live) according to the Spirit.  It depends on the focus of the Christian.  2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen”.  Colossians 3:1-2 says, “Seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth”.  If the Christian is focused on the things of God with his mind and life he will walk differently than the non-Christian or the Carnal Christian.  The Carnal Christian walks “as men of the world” (1 Corinthians 3:3) and his life, thoughts, words, and actions will be as that of the non-Christian.  If you are not a Christian you must be born again.  If you don’t know how to be saved then seek out a Christian or church that can help you.  To the Christians I say, “Let us stay focused on the things of God that we can live our life according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh.”
