Run The Race

Hebrews 12:1–Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

The race is God’s will that He has set before us. In order to run this race we must lay aside every weight (Hebrews 12:1).  Anything that would weigh heavy upon us and hinder us in fulfilling God’s will for our life.  We must also lay aside the sin which does so easily beset us (Hebrews 12:1).  Every weight and sin are obstacles that stand in our way in doing God’s will.  We must also run the race with patience (Hebrews 12:1).  We are to look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).   Faith is a necessity in carrying out God’s will.  We are to look to Jesus as our example and for encouragement. He endured what He had to face and go through for the joy that was set before Him (Hebrews 12:2).  Not only is the race set before us but the joy is also set before us.  There is great joy in fulfilling God’s will for our life and greater joy when we get to heaven.
