Our Blessing In Christ

2 Corinthians 1:20-22–For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. Now he which established us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

The promises of God: Every promise that God has ever made, have been, is being, and will be fulfilled in Christ.  He is the yes and the Amen to all the promises God has made.  Christ is the mediator of the “new covenant” with “better promises”.  Christ mediates this covenant and these promises unto us and as recipients of these promises, we bring glory unto God.  Christ fulfills these promises unto us and in us unto the glory of God.  “In Christ we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will: that we should be to the praise of his glory (Ephesians 1:11-12).

We are established: God establishes us in Christ.  That is, He makes us firm, secure, and stable in Christ.  In Christ we have access to and receive every promise God has made to us.  It is through being recipients of these promises that we are made firm, secure, and stable in Christ.

We are anointed: God has anointed us with His Holy Spirit.

We are sealed: God has placed upon us His stamp of ownership.

We have been given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts: “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory (Ephesians 1:13-14).  The earnest of the Spirit is the deposit guaranteeing that everything else will be received in due time.  We shall receive our full inheritance which Christ has obtained for us.
