Let The Word Of God Dwell In You

Colossians 3:16–Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

It is our choice–The word let, means that we have a choice and are in control as to whether this happens or not.  We are to allow it to dwell in our minds, hearts, and life. God said, “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts”.  This is a promise of God; we must allow Him to do it.  God wants His word to dwell (inhabit) in us richly (abundantly) in all wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to use knowledge (the word) in the right and the wise way.  It means to be able to rightly use the word of God, applying it in the proper way and at the proper time.

Teach and admonish one another–With this word of Christ dwelling in us richly in all wisdom we are to teach and admonish one another.  We are to teach or instruct each other with the word of God that has been revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.  We are to admonish one another.  This means to put in mind or remind each other about what God’s word says.  We are to teach one another and admonish one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs as we sing with grace in our heart and as we sing to the Lord.  The Lord is to be the focus of our psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. He is to be the focus of our worship.
