We Have, We Stand, We Rejoice

Romans 5:1-2–Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

We are justified–God declares us not guilty but righteous in Christ Jesus.  There is no condemnation, for Jesus paid the wages of our sins, and we have received Him by faith.  Our justification is a work of God’s grace and not by our works.  It is not because of what we have done but what God has done in Christ Jesus.

We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We were once far off but are made near by the blood of Christ, for He is our peace (Ephesians 2:18).  This peace is ours but are we really experiencing it?

We have access (entrance) by faith into this grace–This grace that has provided our justification, our peace with God and our access in Christ Jesus.

We stand in this grace, and rejoice in hope. As we stand in the grace of God we rejoice in hope.  The glory of God is the object of our hope.  This hope is sure and secure.  “Our peace and our hope rest on God, on the Mediator Christ, on the eternal Word of promise” (R.C. H. Lenski).  “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).  Our hope reaches out into the future when God’s grace will reach its full and complete work for us.  At that time when we shall be raised from the dead, receive our new bodies, receive our new home in heaven, and receive our full inheritance given to us by this amazing grace of God. At that time we as the family of God will be gathered together around His throne singing and worshipping in total freedom from the penalty of sin, the power of sin and the presence of sin.

And so shall we ever be with the Lord. Amen.
