Repent and Live

Ezekiel 18:30-32–Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord God. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies, says the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

I will judge you.  God tells us this to warn us that there is a judgment day coming.  He will judge everyone according to their ways.  It is God’s desire for everyone to repent and turn from their transgression so their iniquity shall not be their ruin.  When we repent and turn from our transgression we are to cast them away from us.  We do not make us a new heart and a new spirit.  This we cannot do.  However when we repent and turn from all our transgressions and cast them away God will give us a new heart and a new spirit.  God has no pleasure in the death of him that dies.  It is His desire for everyone to turn and live by receiving eternal life.  “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance“ (2 Peter 3:9).  If you have not done this I urge you to do it as soon as possible.
