The Course Of A Man’s Life

Proverbs 11:5-6–The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

The course of a man’s life is set by the real nature of his inner self.  What a man is internally, within himself will direct his thinking, his words, and his actions.

Righteousness–Righteousness in this sense means whatever conforms to the revealed will of God.  It means what is right and just.  This internal quality causes us to be perfect and upright.  It will also direct our ways, guiding us and keeping us on a straight and safe way.  It will deliver us from the trials and temptations that we have to face in this life.

Wickedness and transgression–If our internal quality is evil and we go beyond the limits allowed by God and man and violate them we will suffer for it.  It is by his personal evil nature that results in his evil ways that the wicked will fall and be taken.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:7-9).
