The Sacrifice Of Praise

Hebrews 13:15–Let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

We should praise God.  This praise is in respect to His glory, His revealed character, and His wonderful works.  We are to praise Him for who He is and for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He is going to do.

The fruit of our lips–This praise is the fruit of our lips.  It is the verbal expression and evidence of the attitude of our heart.  It is a spiritual sacrifice, meaning it is offered in the spirit and not in the flesh.  Its origin is in our spirit.  It is one of the various aspects of worship.

Giving thanks to His name–Thankfulness is the foundation which our praise is built upon.  Praise flows from a heart that is thankful to God for who He is and what He has done for us, what He is doing for us, and what He is going to do for us.

Psalm 9:1–”I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvelous works”.  Our praise should be with our whole heart.  By our praise we show forth in words and song the marvelous works of God.

Psalm 96:4–”The Lord is great, and greatly to be praised”.

Psalm 150:6–”Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord“.
