Can Two Walk Together?

Amos 3:3–Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

***********************************************************************

The implied answer to this question is no.  Two can not walk together unless they are in agreement.

Walking with God–In order to walk with God we must be in agreement with Him.  Our life must be in agreement with God and His word.  God is Spirit and in order to walk with God we must walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.  If we are walking in the flesh then we are not walking with God.  Walking with God is walking in the light as He is in the light.  It is walking paths of righteousness for His name sake.  We can walk with God when we decide to walk the path or course He has set before us.  We can walk with God when we are in agreement as to the direction and the pace we will walk in.

Walking with others–In order to walk together with other Christians we both must be in agreement.  We must both be walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh.  “The Spirit and the flesh are contrary the one to the other” (Galatians 5:17).  If one Christian is walking in the Spirit and the other in the flesh then they are not in agreement and therefore cannot walk together.  This is the reason there is conflict in our churches and church splits and many denominations.  If we are both walking in the Spirit then we are both walking with God.  We are both in agreement with God, with His direction, with His pace, with the goal He has in mind.  There is to be a unity in the body of Christ as each member (Christian) is surrendered to the head (Jesus).  In this unity we will be in agreement and can walk together.
