The Importance Of A Vision

Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he.”

Vision. For the Christian, vision is seeing and understanding what God’s will is. It can be related to an individual, however if we are in a position of authority and responsibility it can include those within the realm of our authority and responsibility such as our family, or our church. As the vision includes our family or church, the vision depends on their acceptance, and their desire to take part in carrying out the vision. If a person has an inclusive vision and the others don’t accept and take part in carrying out the vision, the person is to pray for the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into the field. If the person remains true to the vision God will answer that prayer and send laborers from outside their group. The vision can be related to what God wants us to do, when He wants us to do it, where He wants us to do it, and or how He wants us to do it.
1. A vision gives direction to our lives and motivates us to move in that direction and do what needs to be done for the vision to be fulfilled. It brings an excitement and joy, knowing that we are doing what God wants us to do.
2. Within this scripture is the mention of keeping the law. God’s word helps us have a vision about our life in general; how we are to live our life. It also gives us specifics about how we are to live our life. Being obedient to God’s word is always related to any vision we receive from God.
3. Within this scripture is the mention of happiness. We will be happy if we have a vision and walk in obedience to God’s will and His word.
Without a vision. Without a vision the people perish. Without a vision the person will have no direction and will lack motivation.
