Learning To Walk–Part 1

Colossians 1:10 “Walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

Learning to walk: A baby must learn how to walk and experiences difficulties and failures. They often stumble and fall as they learn how to walk physically. New born Christians must learn how to walk spiritually and will experience difficulties and failures as we learn. It is the church’s responsibility to be the parent of this new Christian. The parent teaches the child how to walk by encouraging them with outstretched hands and by their words. The church through its members must take this same approach with the new Christian.

Walk worthy of the Lord: When we are walking worthy of the Lord our walk (our life) will be pleasing to Him, we will be fruitful in every good work, and we will be increasing in the knowledge of God through experiencing Him in our lives. It is one thing to grow in the knowledge of God mentally and yet another thing to grow in the knowledge of God through experience. Let us walk worthy of the Lord and experience the joy of our salvation.

  1. What does it mean? To walk worthy of the Lord is to live our life in a way that expresses our esteem for the Lord. It expresses how important the Lord is to us and how much we value our relationship with Him. It also expresses thankfulness for all that he has done for us.

When we are walking worthy of the Lord our walk (our life) will be pleasing to Him, we will be fruitful in every good work, and we will be increasing in the knowledge of God through experiencing Him in our lives. It is one thing to grow in the knowledge of God mentally and yet another thing to grow in the knowledge of God through experience. Let us walk worthy of the Lord and experience the joy of our salvation.

In the next few days we are going to look at how we can walk worthy of the Lord.
