Learning To Walk–Part 2

Romans 6:4 “We are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Walk worthy of the Lord: To walk worthy of the Lord is to live our life in a way that expresses our esteem for the Lord. It expresses how important the Lord is to us and how much we value our relationship with Him. It also expresses thankfulness for all that he has done for us. To do this we must walk in newness of life.

1. On the positive side: To walk in newness of life is to walk in the Spirit, to walk in the light, to walk by faith, to walk circumspectly, to walk in love, in wisdom, in truth, and after the commandments of the Lord and in obedience.

2. On the negative side: To walk NOT after the flesh, not after the manner of men, not in craftiness, not by sight, not in the vanity of the mind, and not disorderly.

Walk in newness of life: We have received a new spiritual life and are to live our life according to the new nature that we have received. It is different from the way we lived our life in the past. We are to live our life in a way that we bring honor and glory to our heavenly Father. It is to be yielded to God and the members of our body are to be yielded to Him as instruments of righteousness in His hands (Romans 6:13).

We must learn how to walk spiritually. We might stumble and we might fall but we must get up and keep learning. Learning to walk spiritually is a necessary part of spiritual growth.
