Learning To Walk–Part 4

1 John 1:7We walk in the light, as He is in the light.

Walking worthy of the Lord: We are to live our life in a way that expresses our esteem for the Lord. We are to live in a way that expresses how important the Lord is to us and how much we value our relationship with Him. Our life should also be an expression of our thankfulness for all that he has done for us. To do this we must walk in the Light.

Walk In the Light: Walking in the light is another way of saying to walk in the Spirit. According to 1 John 1:5-7; we learn that God is light, and that to walk in the light, is to walk in fellowship with God. Fellowship is a mutual sharing, having the same interests and goals. It is to go about our day in the awareness of God’s presence. It is to acknowledge him in all our ways according to Proverbs 3:6. To walk in the light is also to walk in the light of God’s Word, for God’s word is “a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path” (Psalm 119:105). I am reminded of the words of a hymn, “When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His word, what a glory He sheds on our way“. As we “walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). This is the source of true Christian fellowship. Walking in the Light is necessary to our spiritual growth.
