Our Help In Time Of Trouble

Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

God is our refuge: He is our shelter and protection from danger and difficulty. He is our place of safety. He is where we can retreat to from the problems and cares that we have in this world. In Him we can find a safe and quiet place to carry our burdens. “Cast all your care upon Him for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

God is our strength: He is our power to resist whatever comes against us. He will support us in those times when we feel weak and vulnerable. “If God be for us who can be against us” (Romans 8:31)? Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). We also have Christ and He will strengthen us.

God is a very present help in trouble: He is present with us. He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). He will not leave us; He will always be present whether we are aware of His presence or not. He will never forsake us, but shall be there for us, to help us in our time of trouble.

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8).
