We Are The Begotten Of God

1 Peter 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for us.”

Begotten: We are born of God according to his abundant mercy. We are born again; born of God’s Spirit into a new and spiritual existence without which we cannot see or enter into the kingdom of God (John 3:5).

Unto a lively hope: Our hope is not dead but is alive by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Jesus said, “Because I live, you shall live also” (John 14:19).

Unto an inheritance: This inheritance is not related to this world and its possessions which are corruptible and defiled, and that fade away. This is a spiritual inheritance that is incorruptible (free from corruption and decay), undefiled (free from contamination), and which does not fade away (eternal). This inheritance is reserved (set aside and kept) for us in heaven. We have a reservation and the check-in time is the day of our rapture.

This is the result of God’s love for us.
