We Are Kept

1 Peter 1:5: “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

We are kept: The power of God keeps us. We are protected by God in all of His power through our faith. As we turn to God and trust in His love, His grace, His mercy and His power, He accepts our faith, and honors our faith by keeping us safe. Jesus said, “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand” (John 10:28-29). “Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). We are kept.

Unto Salvation: This speaks of our total salvation which has three aspects. Salvation in the past occurred the moment we got saved, wherein we were delivered from the penalty of sin. Salvation in the present occurs day by day, week by week, month by month, and year by year, wherein we are delivered from the power of sin. Salvation in the future will occur when we get to heaven, wherein we will be delivered from the presence of sin.

Ready to be revealed: The completion of this salvation is ready to be revealed in the last time. Jesus said, “Of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew 24:36). We don’t know when it will happen. “In such an hour as you think not the Son of man comes” (Matthew 24:44). But it is ready. It is ready to be revealed. It could be today, or tonight, or tomorrow. Let us live each day as if it could be that day.

Praise God for this great, and all encompassing salvation.
