Be Still And Know

Psalms 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God.

Be still: We are to find times, at least once a day, to remain motionless and quiet before God. We need to be still in mind and emotions as well as body. This is a time when we focus on God and seek Him and listen for Him to speak. This is a time to bath in the presence of God and experience the reality of Him. This is a time besides and different from our bible study and prayer which are actions. It can be a time following our bible study and prayer. This is a time to allow God to respond to us. It is a time to allow God to stir our soul and lift our spirit. “Draw near to God” (James 4:8).

And know that I am God: This is God’s promise to respond to us. Be still and know beyond a shadow of doubt that I am God. Be still and know that I am God no matter what others might say or do. This is God’s promise to be self revealing. This is God’s promise to make His presence real for you. When we know the reality of God’s presence our soul is indeed stirred and our spirit is definitely lifted. In God’s presence we find strength to face whatever comes our way for we know we are not alone. He says, “Draw near to Me, and I will draw near to you.” (James 4:8). What a wonderful experience. Glory!
