Faith Which Works By Love

Galatians 5:6: “In Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.”

Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything: These are legalistic outward works of the flesh and associated with the flesh. As with any outward works of the flesh, they are of no use, benefit or profit in our connection and relationship with God.

What does avail everything in our connection and relationship with God?:
1. Faith: ”Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is associated with the spiritual sphere of hope and unseen things. Faith is a firm persuasion, and conviction based on hearing, followed by a personal surrender, resulting in conduct, behavior, actions and works.
2. Faith works: This means works that are associated with faith and result from faith. “Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? See thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?” (James 2:21-22). Abraham’s faith was based on the promise of God and upon God Himself. He had a faith in God that was followed by a personal surrender in obedience to God resulting in his offering Isaac upon the altar. Through this, Abraham’s faith was proven to be perfect. Perfect faith (saving faith) is a faith that not only is firmly persuaded based on hearing but is followed by a personal surrender in obedience and resulting in conduct, behavior, actions, and works. It causes us to become a new creature in Christ Jesus which is different and behaves different from what we were and did.

Great is the wisdom and the workings of God
and to Him be all glory, and honor, and praise. Amen!
