We Have A Place In Heaven

John 14:1-3: “Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Let not your heart be troubled: The disciples were troubled because Jesus had just told them that He was going away and they could not go at that time but that they would follow Him afterwards. They would follow Him after certain necessary things had been completed according to the will and word of God. These included His death, burial, resurrection, ascension, glorification, and His preparing them a place in heaven. We each as brothers and sisters in Christ will follow him as our time comes. Jesus sought to comfort the disciples with these words and when we have had a loved one go home to be with Jesus we should also find great comfort in these words as well.

In my Father’s house are many mansions: Jesus is there in heaven preparing for us a place in our heavenly Father’s house. Those loved ones who have preceded us have taken up residence in their place prepared for them by Jesus.

I will come again: “When he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven” (Acts 1:9-11). One day “the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

Praise God!! He will receive us unto Himself
that where He is, we shall be also.
