Experiencing God’s Presence

Exodus 33:14: “And he said, My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

My presence shall go with you: God promised this to Moses and look what God did through Moses.
1.  It is the same promise we have in Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you”.
2. It is the same promise we have in John 14:16, “I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever.”

His presence will go with us where ever we go and whatever we do; day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year. Many times we are concerned more about the blessings of God and what He can give us than we are about the presence of God. If we do not know the Lord’s presence every day then we need to work on our relationship with Him.

Building our relationship with God: We build our relationship with God by spending time in His presence. This can be time spent in His word and in prayer. It can be time spent with Him in worship and praise. It can be time spent with Him as we listen to some Christian music that truly inspires us, focuses our mind upon Him, and opens and lifts our hearts to Him. We need to seek His presence throughout the day as we go about our activities. If God is going to work through us then we must have a proper relationship with Him. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8).

I will give you rest: God can give us rest even when we are active doing something. This rest is freedom from distress, worry, anxiety, and fear, resulting in peace of mind. This rest comes with the presence of God. Jesus said, “Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

God’s Promise and Invitation
“Draw near to me and I will draw near to you.”
“Come unto me and I will give you rest.”
It is up to you.
