Receiving and Finding Rest

Matthew 11:28-30: “Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and burden is light.”

LIFE IS FULL OF CHOICES–EVEN TO NOT CHOOSE IS A CHOICE
Receiving and finding rest are two different events.
1.  Receiving rest occurs when we make the choice to “Come” unto Jesus.
2.  Finding rest occurs when we “Take His Yoke upon us” and “learn from Him”.

Receiving Rest
Come Unto Me:
This expresses the desire of Jesus.  It is an expression of His love and His desire to have an up close and personal relationship with us. This also expresses the compassion of Jesus for those who labor and are heavy laden. This is the call for salvation and begins with a new birth and becoming a new creature in Christ Jesus.

Take My Yoke You: This occurs after we have been born again. This means surrendering to obey the one who holds the reins (our heavenly Father). This is the yoke of Jesus.

Learn of Me: Jesus focused on the Father and stayed in communication and communion (oneness) with Him. He listened to what the Father told Him to do or to say. He watched to see what the Father was doing and joined Him in it. And He learned from the Father. This is the secret of the yoke we are to take upon us.
