Working The Bad With The Good

Romans 8:28: “We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”.

This is one of my favorite scriptures, especially when things are going wrong. We all have both good and bad things that happen in our lives. God oversees our lives and intervenes to work all things for our good, both the good and the bad, for we are those who are called according to his purpose. So when things are going bad we can depend on God, in the fullness of time, to work it together for our good.

His purpose for us: This is found in verse 29 of Romans 8. It says that he foreknew us and predestined us to be conformed to the image of his Son. How does this happen? 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”. The Spirit of God changes us into the image of the Lord from glory to glory. In other words step by step; little by little.
1.  Romans 12:2:  This verse tells us that we are transformed by the renewing of our mind. “He which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). God will not give up on us. He is the potter and we are the clay.

God we thank you for your promises you have given us in your word, for we know that you are faithful to perform it. Amen!
